Derek "Brock" Rickman, 48, of Crossett, passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2025. Born on September 11, 1976, Brock was a true country boy at heart—simple, kind, and full of laughter.
A skilled carpenter, Brock worked alongside his father, Tommy, for many years, constructing buildings, adding the finishing touches to cabinetry, and crafting beautiful pieces out of wood. He had an undeniable talent for woodworking.
Those who knew Brock will remember his quick wit, his big heart, and his unwavering loyalty. He had a special bond with his sister, always protective and caring, and he was a wonderful uncle to his nephew, Kameron.
Brock had a deep love for the outdoors, spending countless hours hunting, fishing, and playing baseball. He was also an avid sports fan, especially when it came to watching his beloved Arkansas Razorbacks play football. But above all, his greatest joys were his dogs, who brought him endless comfort and happiness.
He is preceded in death by his father, Tommy Lee Rickman; one aunt, Jo Ann Boudreaux; and two beloved uncles, Richard Fuller and Johnny Rickman and the love of his life, Nicole L. Johnston.
He leaves behind his mother, Marcia Southwell; one brother, Zack Southwell (Terri Jo); and one sister, Kasady Southwell all of Monroe, LA; along with aunts, Helen Naff (Roger) of Crossett, and Connie Fuller of Hamburg; one niece, Lizzie Southwell, two nephews, Kameron Givens and Ryan Southwell; two great-nephews, Waylon and Drake Givens; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, February 14th, at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W, in Crossett, with Rev. Melvin Yorks, officiating.
