Dewey Curtis Deal, 85, of Crossett, passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2022, at the Ashley County Medical Center. He was born on September 6, 1936, to his parents, Frank and Mary Aiken Deal, was a lifelong resident of Crossett, and a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
While serving his country in the United States Navy, Dewey was assigned to the USS Essex. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to his hometown, worked numerous years at the Bemis Bag Company, and eventually retired after a long lucrative career from Georgia Pacific in 1999.
Dewey was an avid fisherman. He loved to fish and enjoyed the many fishing trips with his family and friends. Playing golf was also one of his favorite pastimes, along with working in his vegetable garden, and assisting in coaching the Arkansas Razorbacks football team from his living room. He was their biggest fan and rarely missed a game.
Cooking was also one of Dewey’s talents, and his banana bread, lemon icebox pie, and homemade soup were among his family’s favorites.
Dewey was an honest man with a memorable smile and giggle who just enjoyed the simple things like sitting on his porch with his family who he loved immensely.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by four sisters, Polly Meeks, Mary Frances Hudgens, Betty Sue Helms, and Sandra Vickers; and one brother, Randall Deal.
He leaves behind his wife of sixty-one years, Imogene Banks Deal; one daughter, Sherry Pippen (Lonnie); and two sons, Wendell Deal (Melissa), and Brian Deal (Kayla) all of Crossett; along with one brother, Billy Deal of Bastrop, LA; seven grandchildren, Clint Lebrun, Hannah Ruffennach, Chandler Knight, Trey Deal, Daylan Deal, Krystal Elmore, and Branson Stockstill; and five great-grandchildren, Porter, Knox, Finely, Beckett, and Charlee.
