Dianne Hartness, 66, of Crossett, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2020, in Little Rock. She was born in Bastrop, Louisiana, on August 12, 1953, to her parents, Harold and LaVerne Pamplin Swan.
In 1972, she graduated from Crossett High School and, for most of her life, worked in retail. For several years she managed Jr. Food Mart and EZ Mart. She later purchased Roadmart, which she operated for ten years.
Dianne enjoyed fishing, dancing, and cooking, but especially loved spoiling her grandson and playing with her dog, “Bruno.”
She believed in working hard and giving all she could, not only to her job but to help anyone in need. She gave quietly and freely to the homeless and would often buy gifts to help families at Christmas. No matter what the need, Dianne would always reach out her hand to help a stranger.
She is preceded in death by her father, Joe Harold Swan, and the “love of her life,” Glen McCallister.
She is survived by her son, Joey Walton (Robbin Phillips) of Crossett; her mother, LaVerne Swan also of Crossett; one brother, David Harold Swan of Pine Bluff; one sister, Vickie Jo White (Wayne) of Camden; and one grandson, Christian Raye Walton of Mountain Home; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Her family will hold a Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 22, 2020, at the First United Pentecostal Church.
