Earnest Wesley Fowler, 85, of Crossett, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2025. He was born on June 13, 1940, in Fletcher, Oklahoma, where he spent his younger years.
Following high school, Earnest proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served with honor aboard the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk during the Vietnam Conflict. After completing his service, and after meeting the love of his life, his beloved Lynnetta, the couple made their home in Crossett. There, Earnest spent many years working with the Ashley, Drew & Northern Railway Company.
Later, he moved his family to Kansas, where he worked alongside his brother-in-law in Fixed Base Operations, a central fueling station for aircraft traveling from coast to coast. During that time, Earnest crossed paths with many notable figures, including Mario Andretti, Tom Cruise, and Mrs. Fields—who was known to greet him with fresh-baked cookies whenever she stopped by.
Eventually, Earnest and his family returned to Crossett, where he resumed his career with the AL & M Railway Company, faithfully working until his retirement.
Outside of work, Earnest poured himself into his community and the lives of others. He was an active member of the Crossett Optimist Club and dedicated many years to coaching girls’ softball and boys’ basketball, making a lasting difference in the lives of countless young athletes. He also enjoyed hunting and golfing, with some of his favorite memories made on golf trips with friends. A devoted Razorback fan, he even sported a red golf cart to show his pride.
Above all, Earnest was a man of deep faith. His love for God was the guiding light of his life and was evident in the way he treated others—with kindness, generosity, and a steadfast spirit. He was also a wonderful dad, whose love, guidance, and steady presence created a strong foundation for his family. To know him was to love him, and to count on him was to find a true and faithful friend.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Lynnetta Atwell Fowler; his parents, George and Laura Wilson Fowler; his stepmother, Irene Fowler; and one sister, Madeline Fowler Moore.
He leaves behind his five children, David Wesley Fowler (Lidia Adriana) of Springdale, AR, Kelly Suzan Anderson (Jim) of Monroe, LA, Kenny Wayne Fowler, and Kyle Dale Fowler, and Kimbralynn Laure Fowler Fouts all three of Spiro, Oklahoma; along with grandchildren, Maggie and Peyton Remoy, and Hezrai Wesley, Enoch Eliam, Jahleel Abiezer, Jahdiel Elhanan Fowler and several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and three special nieces, Terri Ewing (John), Tammie Lust (Greg), and Tracie Rust (Robert).
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 9th, at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W, in Crossett, with Pastor Tim Parke, and David Fowler, officiating.
Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 8th at the funeral home.
