Edgar Alan Maxwell, 92, a lifelong resident of Crossett, passed away on January 25, 2025. He was born on November 25, 1932, to his parents Edgar and Eula Harris Maxwell and was an active member and deacon of Maplevale Missionary Baptist Church.
Alan retired from Georgia Pacific after a dedicated 37-year career as a pipe fitter in maintenance.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting turkey, deer, and squirrel, and traveling across Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, and Missouri on memorable hunting trips. At home, he nurtured a thriving garden, tending it passionately until the age of 91.
Alan’s skills were boundless; he was a talented bass singer and a master craftsman who could build or repair anything, even creating his own tools when needed.

He is preceded in death by his first wife of 33 years, Hazel Kitchens Maxwell; his parents, Edgar and Eula Harris Maxwell; three brothers, Harris, Travis, and Steve Maxwell; three sisters, Rose Walker, Maxine Sturdivant, and Melba Thomas; one son in-law, Joe Stevens; one granddaughter, Haylee Stevens Clark; and two grandsons, Dennis Guy Maxwell, and Ryan Douglas Brumley.
