Ethyle F. Jones, 89, of Jacksonville, Florida, formerly of Crossett, passed away on Saturday, April 17, 2021, at her home. On May 6, 1931, she was born to John and Lou Ellen Egerton Fife in Strong, Arkansas. She lived most of her life in Crossett and was a member of Crossroads Missionary Baptist Church.
For many years, Ethyle worked at the Chase Bag Company and Georgia Pacific, but in her free time, she enjoyed taking trips to the mountains, working in her yard tending her flowers, and spending time with her family at their river camp.
Ethyle was a devout Christian who was perfectly happy staying home and working outside. She loved her church family and had a very close relationship with her siblings, but she especially loved her grandchildren.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by one brother, James “Buddy” Fife, and one granddaughter, Corinne Michelle Garrett.
She is survived by her husband of forty-eight years, Billy F. Jones; and one son, Gerald Garrett, and wife, Sandy, both of Jacksonville, FL; three sisters, Mavis Love of Northwest Arkansas, and Bobbie Kay Childers and husband J.W., and June Noble, both of Crossett; one brother, Gary “Shorty” Fife, and wife, Lynn, also of Crossett; along with two granddaughters, Siobhan McCracken and Elyse Gonzalez of Jacksonville, FL; and three great-grandchildren, Persephone Alice, Pandora Koralin, and Phynn Garrett McCracken.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 22, in the chapel of Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W, in Crossett, with Rev. Farrell Breshears, officiating, followed by interment at Crossroads Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Bobby Noble, Gary Fife, Steve Childers, John Grady Richards, Logan Fife, Johnny Childers, Belvin Hamm and Sammy Jurden.
Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
