Frank Jenkins Obituary

Frank “Turtle” Jenkins, 77, of Crossett, formerly of Lake Village, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2019, at the Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock.  He was born in El Dorado, Arkansas on October 5, 1941, to his parents, Doris and Bessie McKinnon Jenkins.

He was a member of South Main Baptist Church, and served honorably in the United States Navy.  After his discharge from the Navy, he began a 38-year career with Georgia Pacific and eventually retired as a millwright in the tissue department.

Frank was an outdoorsman and loved hunting and catching crappie wherever they were biting, but above all, he cherished those special moments he spent with his family, especially his three sons, which he loved dearly.

He is preceded in death by his parents and survived by his wife of 56 years, Carol Evon Bates Jenkins of Crossett; three sons, Dennis Jenkins and wife, Pam, of Bonney Lake, WA, Bobby Jenkins and wife, Phyllis, of Crossett, Donald Jenkins and wife, Jennifer, of Wauwatosa, WI; two sisters, Theresa Godwin and husband, Bobby, of El Dorado, and Katie McGarry and husband, Shaun, of Baton Rouge, LA; and six grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday July 12th at South Main Baptist Church, 2801 Main St. in Crossett, with Bro. Lyle Hern and Bro. Roy Grantham officiating, followed by an interment at Philadelphia Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Billy Rice, Darcy Jeffers, Royce Swaim, Marty Edgar, Ricky Williams, and Tim Harbour.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 11th, also at South Main Baptist Church.
