Frankie Sue Harris, 80, of Crossett, passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2025. She was born on September 4, 1944, to her parents, Jim and Vennie Bates Ellingburg and was raised in the Trafalgar community. A lifelong resident of Ashley County and member of Beech Street Baptist Church, Frankie lived a life marked by kindness, strength, and service to others.
At the age of 45, Frankie proudly earned her degree as a licensed practical nurse. Over the years, she worked in various nursing homes throughout the area, as well as the Generations Unit at the Ashley County Medical Center. Nursing was more than a job to Frankie—it was her calling. She found deep fulfillment in caring for her patients and offering them comfort, compassion, and dignity.
Frankie had a bright and joyful spirit that left an impression on everyone she met. She never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone. Even on her toughest days, she never let it show, always choosing to spread happiness and encouragement instead.
Outside of her work, Frankie enjoyed a wide range of hobbies. She found joy in sewing, bird watching, cooking, painting, traveling, and writing stories. Her creativity and love for life were evident in everything she did. She also had a deep love for animals—especially her cat, affectionately and humorously named “Hitler,” whom she bottle-fed and raised from a kitten.
Above all, Frankie valued her faith, her family, and the creatures she cared for. Her selfless nature, generous heart, and unwavering optimism made her a blessing to all who knew her.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Albert Chester Harris; four siblings, Frank and Floyd Ellingburg, Murlene Pamplin, and Vera Harris; and one son-in-law, Eddie Hackelton
She leaves behind her three children, Cerella Hackelton-Layfield (Alvin), Michael Harris, and Suzette Leigh (Robert); along with eight grandchildren, Jennifer Short (Brian), Jessica Roper (Zane), Jonathan Hackelton (Grace), Brent Harris, Kayla Warren (Daniel), Brock Leigh (Jordan), Erica Nix (Tyler), and Johnnie Leigh (Katie); and 16 ½ great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, June 8th, at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W, in Crossett, with Bro. Chris Sexton, officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Jonathan Hackelton, Brian Short, Zane Roper, Brent Harris, Brock Leigh, Johnnie Leigh, Tyler Nix, and Daniel Warren.
Visitation will be from 2:00-3:00 p.m., at the funeral home, prior to the service.
The family would like to thank the staff of DaVita Dialysis, Dr. Tim Simon, the ACMC Home Health, and Hospice Home Care for the exceptional care they provided.
