Obituary

Gladys Lee Perot, 86, of Crossett, passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2022.  She was born in Collinston, Louisiana, on September 16, 1935, to her parents J.C. and Allie Mae Wyatt White.  She was a resident of Crossett since 1965 and a member of the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church of Hamburg.

Sewing, reading, and decorating were among the many things Gladys enjoyed and she always kept her house, yard, and porch decked out for the holidays, especially, Easter.  She also enjoyed listening to the blues including musicians such as Magic Slim, Ray Charles, Tab Benoit, etc.

For many years, Gladys worked at the Ashley Memorial Hospital as the Head Dietitian.  With her infectious smile and warmhearted personality, Gladys attracted many friends and made everyone feel right at home.

Gladys was everyone’s mama and grandmother, but her family meant everything to her.  She was full of love and always strived to teach her daughters how to love unconditionally.

Along with her parents, she is proceeded in death by her loving husband of fifty-five years, P.J. Perot; four brothers, Causby, Shelby, Sam, and Roy Dale White; six sisters, Louise Reynolds, Dorothy Manning, Loyce Reynolds, Ruby Pruitt, Barbara Jones, and Betty Reynolds; one daughter, Melba Sue Graves and one son-in-law, Michael O. Pierce.

She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Pierce of Crossett; three grandchildren, Michael “Tony” Pierce (Jennifer) of Benton, Louisiana, Kelly Allen (Joe) of Crossett, and Holly Graves also of Crossett; one brother, Sidney White (Gayle) of Culleoka, Tennessee; and a former son-in-law, Rickey Graves; along with seven great-grandchildren, Draylon and Tyler Smith, Gabrielle and Garrett Pierce, and Chloe, Amberlyn, and Hanli Allen; and one great-great-grandchild, Maverick Smith.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 9th at Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church, 765 Ashley Road 70, in Hamburg, with Pastor Josh Luellen, officiating, followed by interment at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Crossett, under the direction of Medders Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Rickey Graves, Draylon Smith, Tyler Smith, Garrett Pierce, Joe Allen, and Michael A. Pierce.
