Gloria “Joann” Harris, 85, of Crossett, passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at her home. She was born July 14, 1935, to her parents, Zack and Mary Shipman Roberson. She was a graduate of Fountain Hill High School and a lifelong resident of Ashley County.
For many years, Joann worked as a bank teller at the First National Bank of Crossett.
In her free time, she enjoyed completing word search puzzles, watching Wheel of Fortune, and cooking, and was known for her delicious lemon and strawberry pies.
Joann was a kind and gentle soul who loved her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husbands, James “Billy” Gifford, and Wirner Harris; and two sisters, Dorothy Brooks and Maxine “Doodle” Byrd McKee.
Joann is survived by two sons, William “Bill” Gifford (Denise) of Milo and Terry Joe Gifford (Dana) of Ft. Hill; one daughter, Tammy Carpenter of Crossett; and one brother, Jimmie Roberson of Bastrop, LA.; along with eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 17, at Flat Creek Cemetery in Fountain Hill, with Bro. Chris Sexton officiating, followed by a brief visitation with family and friends.
