Harold Wayne Pennington, 63, of Crossett, passed away on Friday, September 19, 2025, at the Baptist Health Medical Center in North Little Rock following a brief Illness. He was born on October 6, 1961, to his parents, James Harold and Lavern Faye Pennington, and was a 1980 graduate of Crossett High School.
Harold devoted his life to serving and protecting others through a long career in law enforcement. Over the years, he worked alongside two Ashley County Sheriffs and spent more than a decade with the Monticello Police Department. In 2013, he retired as an Crossett Criminal Investigator, a role he carried out with integrity, dedication, and genuine care for the people in his community.
Beyond his badge, Harold Wayne was a true outdoorsman at heart. A passionate gun enthusiast, he took pride in caring for and shooting his favorite firearms. He found peace in nature and especially enjoyed the quiet beauty of riding the country roads where he grew up. Harold’s devotion extended to his faith and service—he was a long-time and faithful member of Second Baptist Church, a Frost Prairie Volunteer Fireman, and spent many years serving with the Ashley County Rescue Unit. He was also a proud Mason.
He is Preceded in death by his father James Harold Pennington and leaves behind his mother, Lavern Faye Blissett Pennington of Crossett; three daughters, Rebekah Pennington Slack (Chris), and Jessica Pennington, both of Crossett, and Carrie Beth Irons of Kansas; one brother, Kenneth Penington of Crossett; and one sister, Pam Pennington Coyle (Jerry) of Prairie Grove; along with six grandchildren, Gracie Leigh Sivils, Hayla S’Ray Sivils, Makinleigh Slack, Tristan King, Krystan King, and Madelyn Slack; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
