Harry Austin Tapp, Jr., of Hamburg, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2022, at the Countryside Assisted Living Facility. He was born on May 12, 1929, to his parents, Harry Austin Sr., and Ruth Aileen Foster Tapp.
Harry served honorably in the United States Navy in both the Korean War and the Vietnam Conflict and was a Little Rock firefighter who retired as Captain of the bomb squad. For many years, following his retirement, he continued to work as the custodian for the Redfield School District and remained active in the American Legion.
Harry loved to work, especially outdoors. He enjoyed being helpful and staying busy, but his love for others was unmistakable, often doing lawn work for churches and helping those who could not help themselves. He outlived most of his family and friends and continued to cherish the memory of his late wife, whom he adored, along with their dogs, Lily, and Emma.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of thirty-six years, Nancy Stevens Tapp; and two siblings, Mary Aileen Tapp Gill, and Douglas Odell Tapp.
He leaves behind two daughters, Vicki Williams, and Tabitha Tapp Evans both of Little Rock, Arkansas and his best friend, Bernard Dunn Jr.
Medders Funeral Home has been entrusted with his care.
No services will be held at this time.
A special thank you to ACMC Home Health, Hospice Homecare, and the Countryside Assisted Living for their care and kindness.
