Homer “Rex” Brown, 91, of Lake Village, formerly of Crossett, passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at the Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. He was born on December 15, 1933, to his parents, Cordell and Birdie Brand Brown, and grew up in Crossett where he graduated from Crossett High School. A hardworking man with an unmatched work ethic, Rex made his career as a mechanic, working many years at Georgia Pacific before retiring. He was also proud to serve as a union steward, always standing up for fairness and his fellow workers.
Beyond his mechanical skills, Rex was a gifted carpenter who could build just about anything with his hands. He enjoyed life outdoors—camping, hunting, and fishing—and was especially known among family and friends for his famous fried fish. Quick-witted and funny, he had a way of making others laugh and feel at ease.
He was ordained as a deacon at his former church and, in later years, Rex became a devoted and active member of Oak Grove Freewill Baptist Church, where his faith remained the cornerstone of his life.
Above all, Rex valued his walk with God and the family he cherished with all his heart.
He is preceded in death by his parents and leaves behind his loving wife and best friend of 72 years, Dolores Hilborn Brown of Lake Village; one daughter, Rita Donaldson of Quinlan, TX; and one son, Ricky Brown (Nancy) of Little Rock; along with 3 grandchildren, Todd Allen, Whitney Maxwell (Eric), and Jennifer Burks (Brandon); and 5 great-grandchildren, Madison and Dakota Maxwell, and Brody, Jase, and Gavin Burks.
A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 20th, at Crossroads Cemetery with Bro. Ronnie Garrett and Bro. Phillip Payne officiating. Pallbearers are Rex’s grandchildren.
Services entrusted to Medders Funeral Home of Crossett.
