James Coleman Obituary

James Arthur Coleman, 92, of Greensboro, NC, who resided at The Blake at Chanal Valley in Little Rock, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2024. Born in Hamburg, Arkansas on July 7, 1932, to Byck and Mary Ann Patrick Coleman, James was a proud graduate of Hamburg High School's Class of 1950, where he served as Class President. He went on to earn a degree from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.

After completing his education, James began a lifelong commitment to serving his country by joining the United States Air Force. Throughout his distinguished career, he rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, serving at various bases, including a notable assignment in Japan. His dedication and excellence earned him the respect and admiration of his commanding officers and peers.

After retiring from the military, James embraced his passions for golf, bowling, gardening, and reading. Though he was known as a private person, those fortunate enough to earn his trust were rewarded with his sharp wit and warm sense of humor. He had a big heart and a kind soul, traits that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ann Tomlinson Coleman; three brothers, Hugo, Pete, and William Coleman; and one sister, Juanita Rinehart.

He leaves behind one cousin, Betty Dodson of Crossett; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

No services will be held at this time. His cremated remains will be laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery alongside his wife, Betty.

Care entrusted to Medders Funeral Home of Crossett.
