James Grubb Obituary

James Richard Grubb, 80, of Wilmar, formerly of Byron, GA, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025, at the Baptist Health Medical Center in Drew County.  He was born in Johnstown, PA on March 27, 1944, to his parents, Richard and Mildred Fisher Grubb and was a member of Byron Baptist Church.

James served his country with honor in the U.S. Air Force, including a tour in Vietnam, and retired after twenty years of dedicated service. His commitment to both his country and his fellow service members was unwavering throughout his entire military career.

James had a deep passion for restoring classic cars and was an active member of both the Antique Car Club of America and the Middle GA Antique Car Club. At the time, he owned six cars, with his 1932 Oldsmobile Coupe being his absolute pride and joy. This cherished car earned the prestigious Senior National Car Level award, a true reflection of his expertise and commitment to the craft.

Above all, James adored his grandchildren and cherished his family. His love for them was evident in every aspect of his life, and he leaves behind a legacy of love, honor, and cherished memories.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Sandra Nacosky.

He leaves behind his wife of fifty-eight years, Jill Elkin Grubb; and one daughter, Joy Skipper (William) both of Wilmar; along with three grandchildren, Noelle Stephens, Samuel Skipper, and James “Caleb” Skipper; one great-grandchild, Chandler Maloney, and another on the way.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m., January 31st at the Greenhill Cemetery, with Rev. Tim Park, officiating.
