Janice (Pahal) Jenkins

Janice Jenkins, 87, a lifelong resident of Crossett, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 25, 2024.  She was born on January 23, 1937, to her parents, Ruffie and Doris Couey Pahal, was a graduate of Crossett High School, and a dedicated member of the Pine Street Church of Christ.

Janice was known for her warm and nurturing spirit, which she shared abundantly throughout her life. For many years, Janice worked at the Methodist Church Daycare, a position which she approached as an enjoyable adventure, never a job.  Her love for her work and the children she cared for was evident to all who knew her.

In her leisure time, Janice found peace in simple pleasures. She enjoyed tending to her beautiful yard and flower garden, cooking for her family, camping, and sewing.

She had a zest for life and a deep love for people. She was a natural caregiver.  She loved her family immensely and was a wonderful big sister to her younger brother, Tommy, whom she helped to raise.

Janice was always ready to lend a helping hand, often sharing nuggets of wisdom with those around her. Her generosity knew no bounds, and she touched the lives of many with her kindness and compassion.

Among her fondest memories were the trips to Branson, Missouri, where she cherished time spent with loved ones and enjoyed the sights and sounds. Above all, Janice treasured her role as a grandmother and took immense pride in watching her grandchildren grow and thrive.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-nine years, Dewayne “Buddy” Jenkins, one granddaughter, Rachel Reed, and one brother, Jerry Pahal.

She leaves behind one son, David Wayne Jenkins of Crossett; one daughter, Lisa Jenkins Reed (Alan) of Houston, TX; and two brothers, Tommy Pahal (Vicki) of Crossett, and Danny Pahal also of Crossett; along with one grandson, Jacob Alan Reed (Laura Wilton) of Houston; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Thursday, March 28th, at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W in Crossett, with Bro. Jerry Martin, officiating, followed by interment at Crossroads Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home of Crossett. Pallbearers are Arden Miler, Mike Roberts, John Darnell, Casey Pahal, Billy Wayne Edwards, and Sean Suber.

Visitation will be from 12:30-1:00 p.m., at the funeral home prior to the service.
