Jennifer Carol Schat, 43, of Lubbock, Texas, formerly of Crossett, passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at the Covenant Health Medical Center. She was born in Monroe, Louisiana, on February 17, 1978, and was a 1996 graduate of Crossett High School. After graduation, Jennifer attended the South Arkansas Community College and earned an associate degree as a Physical Therapy Assistant.
Jennifer was an outdoor enthusiast. She enjoyed watching and photographing all different types of birds and was a member of both the National Audubon Society and Ducks Unlimited. She also loved going fishing and growing beautiful flowers, especially irises and lilies.
Her ability to see the beauty and value in all of God’s creation was evident even in her relationships. She was a great listener, an encourager, and a supportive friend to anyone in need.
With a big heart and a loud voice, she loved her family immensely and especially loved her precious grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her father, Alan McElroy, and her grandparents, Ernest McElroy, Joyce McElroy, Leonard Johnson, and Dena Johnson.
She leaves behind her husband of twelve years, Bobby Schat of Lubbock, TX; one daughter, Kayla Trussell (Garrett) of Crossett, AR; one son, Alan Michael Burney, also of Lubbock; one stepson, Alexander J. Schat of Granbury, TX; her mother and stepfather, Marilyn and Rick Stephenson of Calhoun, LA; five siblings, Gerry Dunlap (Steven) of Vancleave, MS, Matthew, and Michael McElroy both of Calhoun, LA, Michelle McElroy of Whitehall, AR, and stepsister Connie Dudziak (Tom) of Colorado Springs, CO; along with two grandchildren, Kinzlee and Peyton Trussell of Crossett; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 25, in the Medders Funeral Chapel, 1564 Hwy 52 W, Crossett, with Bro. Jamie Staley officiating.
