Joe "Jody" Haney Obituary

Joe “Jody” LaValle Haney, 59, of Crossett, passed away at his home on Friday, March 13, 2020.  He was born July 9, 1960, was a lifelong resident of Crossett, and a member of the CHS class of 1978.

On August 27, 1982, he married his best friend and sweetheart, Patsy Barner.  In July of 2003, the two opened Belt-Pro Sales and Service with a total staff of five.  Sixteen years later, due to business growth, they employ 21 employees who are a cherished part of their family.

Jody was a man of integrity.  He was honest, competitive, but also enjoyed being goofy and making people laugh.  His work was significant to him, and he was known for wanting to help others.

He enjoyed bass fishing, camping, and tinkering in his shop.  He had a love for classic cars, including his ’69 Chevelle SS and his ’68 Camaro SS. He was a WWII buff who enjoyed watching documentaries and teaching his grandson, Grady, his pride and joy, about the planes and working on the collection that they began together.

Jody was, above all, a family man, whether it was a best friend and soul mate to his wife, a hero to his daughter and grandson, or a brother to his friends and work-family, he loved big and will forever be missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Billy Joe and Norma Ray "Sunny" Haney.  He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of thirty-seven years, Patsy Haney; one daughter, Erin Grubbs and husband, Trey; and one grandson, Grady, all of Crossett; one special friend, Paul Wilkerson of Crossett; a special son, Philip Roberts of Monticello; two special brothers, Martin Hopper and Eddie Kelley of Crossett; along with his beloved Belt-Pro family.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 16, 2020, at the Medders Funeral Home Chapel, 1564 Hwy 52 W, in Crossett.
