John F. Bailey, 75, of Crossett, passed away peacefully with his family by his side Friday, February 12, 2016, in El Dorado, Arkansas. He was born in Birmingham, AL on July 23, 1940. John worked as an Estimating Engineer and Surveyor for over 50 years before retiring and was an avid member, recruiter and supporter of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, fishing, hunting, genealogy, antique cars, and spending time with family, friends, and co-workers. John was a mentor, friend, and teacher to everyone he met and was very well respected for his knowledge and skills in the Construction Industry.
He is preceded in death by his father, Jacob F. Bailey; his mother, Virginia Bailey Terrell; and one sister, Amy Bailey Norman, all of Birmingham, AL.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marie LeCroy Bailey; one son, John Bailey, Jr. and wife Laura of Cabot; one daughter, Beth Barnett and husband Dale of Crossett; one sister, Sylvia Ingram of Hoover, AL; three grandsons, Jeffery Barnett of Monticello, and Jacob and Coleman Bailey of Cabot; two granddaughters, Jennifer Hipp, and Julie Barnett of Crossett; one great-grandson, Eli Reyna of Crossett; two nieces, Christa Bailey and husband Lance of Fairhope, AL, and Penny Angin and husband Dywayne of Valley, AL; along with a host of other nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 17, at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W, in Crossett, AR. with Bro. Roy Grantham officiating.
