John Spells, Jr. Obituary

John Henry Spells, Jr., 63, of Crossett, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2025. He was born March 12, 1961, in Marion, LA., to his parents John Henry, Sr. and Adrienne Mayberry Spells.

As the oldest sibling, John often found himself in the lively company of his younger twin sisters. Though their bond was strong, family stories tell of how he was sometimes overshadowed by their shared charm. Fortunately, his Pawpaw always made sure he knew how special he was, calling him his favorite "Little Johnny."

John was a man of many talents and spent his life working in various roles, including at Country Vittles of Crossett, where he gained a new nickname, “Johnny Be Good”, and many new friends and family. Whether working or in his free time, John was someone who truly never met a stranger. His genuine kindness and outgoing nature left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.

An avid outdoorsman, John enjoyed hunting and fishing and found comfort reading his Bible, drawing strength and wisdom from his faith.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Karla Spells Miller and nephew, Jacob Smiley.

He leaves behind one sister, Karen Little, of Crossett along with his second family; Becky & Merchel Roberts, Tasha, Bo, Chan, Marvin and Nathan.

A Celebration of Life Graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 29th at Harper Springs Cemetery in Huttig, with Bro. Joey Johnson, officiating, under the direction of Medders Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Joshua Little, James Michael Watt, Casy Jenkins, Gunner Burnside, Nathan Hensley and Marvin Hensley. Honorary pallbearers are Jacob Smiley, Merchel Roberts and Bo Roberts.

Visitation will be from 11:30-1:00, Wednesday at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W, in Crossett.
