John D. "Snake" Robbins, 68, of Crossett, Arkansas, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. Born March 9, 1957, at Crossett Health Center, John was the beloved son of L.L. "Monkey" Robbins and Opal Johnson Robbins.
John was a proud graduate of Crossett High School, Class of 1975. After graduation, he began his career at Georgia-Pacific, where he worked for 15 years before relocating to Benton, Arkansas. There, he found his calling as a skilled ironworker and welder, dedicating many years to his trade until his well-earned retirement in 2022. Upon retiring, he returned to his hometown of Crossett to be near family and old friends.
John had a deep love for music and could often be found strumming his guitar with a tune in his heart. He was an avid Arkansas Razorbacks fan and never passed up a good Western or a documentary on the History Channel - always with a cold glass of sweet tea in hand. His storytelling, especially when shared with his cousins, was the stuff of legend - full of laughter, color, and character. There was never a dull moment when Snake was around.
John was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Hershell and Lillie Evans Johnson; paternal grandparents, Curnie and Mary Etheridge Robbins; his stepmother, Helen Martin Robbins; and his sister, Laurie Robbins White.
Left to cherish his memory is his devoted son, Dylan Robbins of Benton, AR, who remembers his dad as a man of strength, unwavering love, and gentle wisdom - a father who never missed a ballgame, a story, or an adventure. His legacy of kindness, humor, and loyalty will live on through the memories they created together.
John is also survived by his sister, Brenda Robbins Weaver of Crossett; a special niece, Chelsey Reed; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of extended family and friends who will miss his sweet soul and generous heart.
John was a man who treated everyone the same - with respect, compassion, and a willingness to lend a hand. Whether you knew him as "Snake," Dad, brother, or friend, he left an imprint that will not be forgotten.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Pinewood Memorial Park, with Rev. Buddy Kinney officiating.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Hospice Home Care and his amazing nurse, Amanda Doss, for their compassionate care and support during his final days.
