Joshua Garan Taunton

Joshua Garan Taunton, 41, of Crossett, passed away on Friday, December 22, 2023. He was born on October 28, 1982, was a 2001 graduate of Crossett High School, and a member of Community Chapel Baptist Church.

Professionally, Joshua worked in construction. Yet, it was in the great outdoors that Joshua found his truest joy. An avid outdoorsman, he lived for the thrill of the hunt and the tranquility of fishing. Nature, with its beauty and challenges, was where Joshua felt most alive.

Joshua's vibrant personality was a beacon that drew people towards him. His love for conversation was as boundless as his compassion. Described by many as someone who never met a stranger, Joshua had a remarkable ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Known for his generous spirit, Joshua was the type of person who would give the shirt off his back to someone in need.

In addition to his love for the outdoors, Joshua had a softer side, as he enjoyed planting flowers and tending to plants, especially for his beloved mother. This tender gesture spoke volumes about his caring nature and the depth of his love for family.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill and Ollie Taunton and Woodrow and Lottie Beatty.

He leaves behind his three children, Garan and Evan Taunton of Crossett and Everly Sluglanhauser of Ohio; his parents, Ricky and Jo Beatty Taunton of Crossett; and one brother, Jeremy Taunton also of Crossett; along with a host of other relatives and numerous friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 27th, at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W, in Crossett, with Bro. Kevin McDaniels, officiating, followed by interment at Crossroads Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Sam Taunton, Emery Duncan, Heath Russell, Peyton McNeice, Jeremy Taunton and Ricky Taunton.

Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
