Julius Hugh Ebarb, 74, of Crossett, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2020, at the Jefferson Regional Medical Center. He was born on February 18, 1946, in Zwolle, LA to his parents Phillip and Grace Ebarb. Hugh was raised in Ebarb, LA, and was a 1964 graduate of Ebarb High School. In 2012, after 42 years, he retired from Georgia Pacific, where he worked as a machine operator.
Hugh was an outdoorsman; he loved deer hunting, going fishing, and mowing his yard, in which he took great pride. For many years, he coached youth and ladies’ softball and loved to brag on his daughter’s team, the “Heartbreakers” whenever someone would listen. Bragging on his children and grandchildren came easy to Hugh, and he could talk for hours about his grandson, Chase Outlaw, and the PBR, which he followed religiously.
Hugh was a hard worker and a good provider for his family. He was a "man's man", outspoken, yet kind-hearted, and always enjoyed telling a good story.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Charlotte Outlaw; two brothers, Calvin and Freddie Ebarb; and the families’ beloved pet schnauzer, Shivers.
Hugh is survived by his wife of 44 years, Gloria Ebarb of Crossett; three daughters, Candy Bronson (Charles) of Conway, Tasha Dorcy (Jim) of El Dorado, and Aspen Whitehurst (Brayden) of Pascagoula, MS; two sons, Dewayne Ebarb of Malvern, and Rylan Ebarb (Bailey) of Monticello; two brothers, Tom Ebarb (Nancy) of Crossett, and Benny Ebarb (Arlene) of Thayer, MO; seven grandchildren, Brittany Outlaw, Chase Outlaw, Ashley Harvey, Vance Dorcy, Grant Dorcy, Ammon Dorcy, and Carson Ebarb, and seven great-grandchildren.
A Private Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, May 9, 2020, at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W, Crossett, with Bro. Joey Meredith and Bro. Tim Ebarb, officiating. Honorary Pallbearers are Phil Ebarb, Rylan Ebarb, Jim Dorcy, Michael Stanley, Zach Harvey, Kevin Stewart, BJ Dye, Chase Outlaw, Charles Bronson, Vance Dorcy, and all of Hugh's GP co-workers.
