Kathy Jo Howell, 71, of Crossett, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2024. She was born in Magnolia, Arkansas, on August 9, 1952, to her parents, Kenneth and Martha Sue Rogers Roberson.
Kathy was a 1970 graduate of Magnolia High School and a 1974 graduate of Southern State College. Her passion for teaching led her to a fulfilling career as a second-grade teacher, where she nurtured and inspired young minds for many years. Kathy retired from Crossett Public Schools in 2009, leaving behind a legacy of countless students who benefitted from her guidance and support.
A devoted member of the First United Methodist Church, Kathy's faith was an integral part of her life. She was an active participant in the United Methodist Women's Circle Group along with contributing her talents to the church decorating committee.
Kathy's love for decorating and her family was evident in all she did. She took great pride in decorating her home and found immense happiness in spending time with her grandchild, creating cherished memories that will be treasured forever.
Kathy is preceded in death by her parents and leaves behind her beloved husband of fifty-one years, Ronnie Howell of Crossett; and two sons, Lance Howell (Tammy) also of Crossett, and Justin Howell of Springdale, AR; along with one granddaughter, Briann Howell; two grand dogs, Magnolia and Timber; and a host of former students who she loved as her own.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 10th, at the First United Methodist Church, 500 Main St, in Crossett, with Rev. Matt Daniels, officiating, followed by interment at the Village Cemetery in Magnolia, AR under the direction of Medders Funeral Home of Crossett. Pallbearers are Dr. Ben Walsh, Eddie Cheatham, Brice Cheatham, Al Gathright, Mike Chisolm, and Jim Knighton.
Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m., at the church prior to the service.
