Larry Cook Obituary

Larry Donald Cook, 83, of Crossett, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023. He was born in West Haven, NY, on January 31, 1940, to his parents, Donald and Mary Willsey Cook.  He was raised in New York, only forty miles from the Canadian border and was a 1956 graduate of Greenville High School.

Larry's journey took a patriotic turn when he enlisted in the US Air Force in 1957, proudly serving his country. Following his military service, he transitioned into the world of commercial construction, working for KDA Construction where he helped build numerous large financial institutions and other businesses.

Larry could build anything out of wood with his skilled hands and keen eye for detail, earning him a reputation as a talented craftsman whose creations stand as a testament to his passion and talent.

A devoted family man, Larry's love knew no bounds. He adored his wife, children, and extended family, but his heart expanded even more with the arrival of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who became the apples of his eye.  Larry's delicious biscuits and gravy was known as a family favorite and cooking for his family was something he enjoyed greatly.

A man of diverse interests, Larry was also an avid coin collector, history buff, and bargain shopper, but most of all, Larry was a genuine man of faith.  His spirituality was a guiding force in his life, and his impact on the lives he touched resonates in the hearts of those who had the privilege of calling him a friend, family member, or neighbor.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Tim Billings “Cook”; one brother, Earl Cook; and two sisters, Phyllis Turmel and Donna Buomo.

He leaves behind his wife of twenty-four years, Judy Barnett Cook; four sons, Dale Billings “Cook” (Cathy) of Arizona, Larry Cook, Jr. (Rachael) of Carrolton, GA, Greg Cook (Robin) also of Carrolton, GA, and Joey Barnett (Micki) of Crossett; four daughters, Brenda Keith (Ron) of Alabama, Juanita McLendon (Kenny) of Douglasville, GA, Peggy Cowan (James) also of Douglasville, GA and Traci Fitch (Brandon) of Crossett; siblings, Lela Spencer, Linda Burke, Kathleen Winnie, Barbara “Barbie” Constanzo, and Michael Cook; twenty-six grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held by his family at 2:00 p.m., on December 17th, at his home.
