Larry Eldridge Ford, Sr., 72, of Crossett, Arkansas, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023. He was born in Dyess, Arkansas, on August 16, 1951, and spent his formative years in Palmersville, TN, where he graduated from Palmersville High School in 1970. During his high school years, he shined on the basketball court as a star player and was an active member of the Future Farmers of America (FFA).
After graduating, Larry moved to Crossett, Arkansas, where he dedicated approximately twenty-five years of his life working for Georgia Pacific.
Larry's love for music was a constant thread throughout his life. He enjoyed both listening to and playing music, with the bass guitar being his instrument of choice. His musical talents brought joy to those around him and became a cherished part of his legacy.
Rooted in the values instilled during his childhood on the family farm in Palmersville, Larry developed a deep affection for animals. He spent his early years tending to the farm animals, a responsibility that fostered his lifelong commitment to the well-being of all creatures, especially dogs.
Known as a gentle giant, Larry was always willing to lend a helping hand and brought his charming personality and sense of humor to every situation.
Larry was a Christian who held a profound love for the Lord. The salvation of his family was of utmost importance to him, and his faith provided a guiding light throughout his life.
He is preceded in death by his father, Eldridge Ford; his mother, Wanda Helen Lawrence; and grandparents, Warner and Opal Hargraves.
He leaves behind one son, Larry Ford, Jr. (Rebecca) of Gray, GA, and one brother, Ronnie Ford (Cynthia) of Crossett; along with four grandchildren, Zachary Ford, Logan Ford, Dillon Byrd, and Tate Richardson; and two great-grandchildren, Fraya and Kevin Byrd.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 22nd, at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W, in Crossett, with Bro. Andy Connard, officiating, followed by interment at Crossroads Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Ronnie Ford, Larry Ford, Jr., Don Brown, Bob Rush, Roddy Goodwin, Jerry Neathery, and James Ivers. Honorary pallbearers are the 1970 Palmersville High School graduates.
Visitation will be from 10:30-11:00 a.m., Wednesday, prior to the service.
Larry’s family would like to thank the staff of the Nightingale Nursing Home Facility, Hospice Home Care, The Pillars of Crossett, and all the medical staff who has cared for Larry over the years.
