Laurie Chandler Obituary

Laurie Leanne Chandler, 56, of Shreveport, Louisiana, passed away on October 1, 2024, at the Willis Knighton Pierremont Medical Center. Born on August 16, 1968, in Crossett, Arkansas, Laurie embraced life with enthusiasm, warmth, compassion, and an exuberant spirit.

She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from Northeast Louisiana University (now ULM), which laid the foundation for her exceptional career. For twenty years, Laurie devoted herself to her patients at Willis Knighton Medical Center and an additional sixteen years working at various skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers. Her love for her work shone through in every interaction, as she uplifted and supported her patients with kindness and humor.

Known for her infectious smile, Laurie had a unique ability to make everyone feel special. Generous with hugs, she shared her love and positivity freely, leaving a lasting impression on all she met.

Outside of work, Laurie enjoyed music, lounging by the pool, and tending to her flower garden. One of her greatest joys was visiting the beach, where she found peace in the sun and surf.

Laurie will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, unwavering kindness, and the love she shared with everyone around her.

She is preceded in death by her father, Rhett Garrett, leaving behind her mother, Sheila Garrett; and loving husband of thirty years, Steven B. Chandler both of Shreveport, LA; and three children, Garrett S. Chandler (Delanie) and Ashley M. Chandler both of Fort Worth, TX, and Lieutenant John G. Chandler,  United States Air force, Japan; along with one brother, Gregory R. Garrett (Heather) of Brandon, MS; one granddaughter, Landry Chandler; and numerous co-workers, friends, and patients that genuinely adored her.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 5th, at the First Church of God, 1501 S.
