Lee Roy Chambers

Lee Roy Chambers, 83, of Crossett, passed away on Monday, February 22, 2021, at his home.  He was born on October 11, 1937, to his parents, Richard and Annie Ansley Chambers.  He grew up in Forrester, Arkansas, and was a member of North Crossett First Baptist Church.

In 1958, Lee Roy began a long, lucrative career with Georgia Pacific.  Starting out sweeping floors and eventually retiring in 1996 as a superintendent in the woodyard.

Lee Roy drew pleasure from building furniture, watching wrestling, a good western, or simply mowing his grass.  He loved to sing and enjoyed listening to Willie’s Roadhouse.

He wasn’t a complicated man.  He knew that as long as he had a relationship with Jesus Christ and a loving family, that was all he needed.

Playing with his two furry companions and fishing was most definitely his two favorite pastimes; however, his weekly coffee drinking visits with his long-time buddy, John Floyd, also ranked high.

Lee Roy was brutally honest but a true gentleman who showed his grandchildren how a man was supposed to treat a woman and provide for his family.  He loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Jocie Chambers; one son, Tommy Lee Chambers; two brothers, John and Frankie Chambers; and six sisters, Floye Dunagan, Eunice Carter, Mary Ann Jones, Delmer Black, Betty Fryar, and Emagean Nelson.

He is survived by one son, Joel Chambers, and wife, Kathy, of Dumas, AR; two daughters, Brenda Spaulding and Sherri Douglass, both of Crossett; one sister, Billie Jo Lundry of Mt. Ida, AR; along with eight grandchildren, Teresa Walker, Matthew Chambers, Sommer Crozier, Lorenda Spaulding, Amber Winford, Jamien Crozier, Lee Cozby, and Mauri Chambers; eighteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; his special coffee drinking buddy, John Floyd; and his favorite four fur friends, Hazel, Dax, Scruffy, and Aubrey Jane.

A Private Family Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 26, at Medders Funeral Home, with Pastor Robin Allen, officiating followed by interment at Pinewood Memorial Park whenever cemetery conditions permit.  Pallbearers are James and Jadon Spaulding, I.T, Walker, Matthew Chambers, Jamien Crozier, Lee Cozby, Carter Herring, Tony Jones, Justin Green, and Denon Cagle.  Honorary pallbearers are I.T. Walker, Jr. "Son", and the Men’s Coffee Group at North Crossett First Baptist Church.

Medders Funeral Home is complying with the CDC and the Arkansas Governor’s mandates regarding funerals and visitations and asking everyone to practice social distancing and refrain from any physical contact.

Those that are considered high risk, running fever, or have been recently exposed to someone positive with COVID-19 are encouraged to stay home to protect themselves and others.
