Linda Emory Obituary

Linda Gayle Emory, 73, of Crossett, passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2020, at the Somerset Senior Living Center of Crossett.  She was born on June 26, 1947, to her parents, Lamar and Myrtle Neel Marter, and was a lifelong resident of Crossett. 

She graduated from CHS in 1965 and soon married a musician named Dan Emory, who swept her off her feet and loved her immensely for the next 55 years.

Linda was a licensed cosmetologist and worked several years at the Castelana Salon until eventually opening, The Pine Cove, a florist and beauty salon which she continued to operate for the next twenty-four years. 

She was a member of D.A.R. (The Daughters of the American Revolution), Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and the First Baptist Church of Crossett.

Linda was a gifted artist whose talents were endless.  She enjoyed working with many mediums including, oils, acrylics, stained glass, and ceramics, to name a few and created many stunning floral arrangements.  She loved flowers, but especially her orchids.  Linda was also a homemaker, an animal lover, a caretaker, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a best friend. 

Many called her mom and knew they could count on her always even when they needed somewhere to lay their head.  She listened, gave advice freely, and she loved unconditionally.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lamar Marter and Myrtle Neel Hughes.  She is survived by her husband, Dan C. Emory; three daughters, Sharla Emory of Little Rock, Leigh Emory Carter (Jim) of Crossett, and Lauren Emory Richard (Mike) also of Crossett; one sister, Marla Carithers (Larry) of Fort Worth, TX; eight grandchildren, Anna Sophia Jones, Larson Rainey, Chloe Carter, Jonah Richard, Creed Carter, Ava Claire Carter, Cole Richard (Brooke), and Toni Franklin (Blake); along with three great-grandchildren, Lucy and Lily Franklin and Charlie Richard; and a host of nieces, and nephews.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 3, at the Hickory Grove Cemetery in South Crossett with Bro. Jerry Grant officiating.  Pallbearers are David Stephenson, Ronnie Joe Dykes, Jim Carter, Mike Richard, Chris Carithers, Jonah Richard, and Creed Carter.  Honorary pallbearers are Larry Carithers, Lamar Hill, Chuck Allen, Thad Lloyd, and Wayne Neel.

Medders Funeral Home is complying with the CDC and the Arkansas Governor’s mandates regarding funerals and visitations and asking everyone to practice social distancing and refrain from any physical contact.

Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.

Those that are considered high risk, running fever, or have been recently exposed to someone positive with COVID-19 are encouraged to stay home to protect themselves and others.
