Lottie Elizabeth Cobbs Rainwater, formerly of Brinkley, El Dorado, Hot Springs, and Little Rock, passed from this life on May 14, 2021, in Crossett, Arkansas. Lottie was born on August 29, 1923, the youngest of four children of the late Paul Haskins Cobbs and Clara Beatrice Cobbs. A graduate of Brinkley High School, Lottie attended Arkansas State Teachers’ College, prior to her marriage to William Sloan Rainwater in 1945. Lottie spent most of her adult life as a homemaker, raising her family.
Lottie was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul Bernard Cobbs, John William Cobbs, and Edward M. Cobbs; a son, James Allan Rainwater; and William Furtch. She is survived by a daughter, Judy Brooks (Ronnie) of Austin, Texas, a son, Paul S. Rainwater (Sue) of Crossett, Arkansas; four grandsons: Christian Brooks (Jennifer) of Austin, Texas, Jesse brooks (Candace) of Salida Colorado, Jason Rainwater (Kristi) of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Luke Rainwater (Noelle) of Dallas, Texas. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, and special nieces, Lillian Aiken, and Patsy Young.
Lottie loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; she also enjoyed reading and writing poetry and prose, communing with nature, and traveling (but always coming home to her beloved, Hot Springs).
Arrangements are under the direction of Medders Funeral Home of Crossett. No services are planned at this time.
