Mamie Wolfe Hamilton-Hammett, 84, of Crossett passed away Thursday, November 14, 2019, at her home. She was born on March 5, 1935, in Hermitage, AR. Her father was a Mormon sharecropper and along with her eight siblings, she grew up working in the cotton fields and studying the Mormon faith.
As an adult, she had a successful 20-year career at KAGH radio station and later worked several years at Hanna Furniture and Boyd’s Women’s Clothing Shop.
She enjoyed working many hours in her beautiful flower garden, fishing, cooking, and singing gospel music. She adored her kids and was blessed with many wonderful grandchildren.
Mamie with her infectious personality loved people and she never met a stranger. Her conversations always concluded with a hug and her saying, “I love you”, even if she’d only known you five minutes.

She is survived by her husband of thirty-five years, Ron Hammett of Crossett; two sons, Gary Hamilton of Hamburg and John Phillip “Phil” Hamilton of Crossett; one brother, Ellis Gene Wolfe and wife, Joni, of Clinton, OK; one sister, Janet Keith and husband, Bobby, of Monroe, LA; along with six grandchildren, Missy Hamilton, Jamie Tokarz, Jennifer Hamilton, Jill Williams, Destiny McGilton, and Nikki Pippen; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
