Marc Leonard Bounds, 59, of Huttig, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2025, at the South Arkansas Regional Hospital in El Dorado. He was born August 24,1965, to George Leonard and Loretta Joan Shanks Bounds and was a 1983 graduate of Winnfield High School.
Marc wore many hats in life—cross carrier, handyman, foster pet dad, poker player—but above all, he was a servant of the Lord.
Marc’s greatest passion was his walk with Christ, both figuratively and literally. He devoted many years of his life to spreading the Word of God in a uniquely powerful way: by carrying a large wooden cross from town to town. He built that cross with his own hands and bore it from Oklahoma through Arkansas and onward to South Carolina, ministering to everyone he met along the way. With each step, he shared his testimony and the story of grace that fueled his journey, until physical limitations brought his travels to a halt.
Even after his feet could no longer carry him on the road, Marc's mission never ceased. He continued to minister with his words, his hands, and his heart. He opened his home and heart to countless animals in need—rescuing dogs and cats and often fostering puppies until they could find their forever homes. His compassion knew no bounds.
A jack of all trades, Marc could fix just about anything and was always willing to lend a hand. He also had a love for poker, where his quick wit and easy smile made him a favorite at any table.
Marc lived a life of service, sacrifice, and sincere love for others. He will be deeply missed by those who were blessed to know him and inspired by his walk.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Dennis Harper.
He is survived by his children; Abigail Bounds of St. Louis, MO and Christopher Bounds of St. Peter’s, Mo; one sister, Joy Willams of Tulsa, OK; two brothers; Vincent Bounds (Lisa) of Troy, MO and Harry Bounds (Paula) of Riverview, FL.
His family will hold a memorial service at Castle View Country Club in Branson West, MO, on June 21, 2025.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a local animal rescue or Christian outreach ministry in Marc’s honor.
Care entrusted to Medders Funeral Home of Crossett.
