Margaret Ann Edney ,77, of Crossett, died Thursday, March 10, 2022, at the St. Frances Medical Center in Monroe, Louisiana. Margaret was born in Crossett, on December 14, 1944, to her parents, Louis and Vonnie Laverne Maxwell. She was a 1963 graduate of Monticello High School and a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
Margaret worked for Georgia Pacific Mid-Continent Division for many years, before eventually retiring with Plum Creek Timber. She then began a second career working at Stage Department Store in Crossett and worked there until it closed in 2020.
She will be remembered by family and friends as an amazing cook, with excellent baking skills, and was well known for her delicious cakes. She loved to shop, and especially enjoyed buying special things for her grandchildren.
Margaret was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband of twenty-five years, Ronnie Edney in 1989, and her infant daughter, Allison Leigh in 1975, along with her parents.
She is survived by two sons; Jim Edney and wife, Carla, of Crossett, and Wayne Edney and wife, Cathy, of Hamburg; five grandchildren, Ryan Edney and wife, Johnnie Lynn, of Crossett, Kaycee Raines of Southaven, MS, Brittany Procell and husband, Corey, of Monticello, Kaleb Dickerson and wife, Taylor, and Anna White, all of Crossett; one sister, Betty McFarland and husband, Ronnie, of Searcy; and 6 great-grandchildren.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 14th, at the Oakland Cemetery in Monticello with Bro. Kenneth Watt officiating.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., Sunday, March 13th, at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W, in Crossett.
