Marilyn "Lucy" Dodge Obituary

Marilyn Lucille “Lucy” Dodge, 81, of Crossett, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, in Little Rock.  She was born on October 30, 1940, to her parents, Barney McRay and Flossie Jones White, was a 1957 graduate of Crossett High School, and a member of the South Main Baptist Church.

Lucy enjoyed fishing, working in her flower beds, or just spending a quiet afternoon wrapped up in a book.  She was an amazing artist who could play the piano and was learning to play the guitar.

For thirty-plus years, Lucy worked in the medical field, most of which, as a licensed practical nurse for numerous local doctors, nursing homes, and the Ashley Memorial Hospital.  However, she was a natural caregiver her entire life, who made her patients and friends feel at ease with her sincere compassion and southern charm.

She could quickly light up a room with her big smile, unique laugh, and bubbly personality.  She was kindhearted, classy, and often a little sassy, and was everyone’s friend.  Lucy loved her multitude of friends, and especially her family, devoting herself wholeheartedly to their wellbeing until the day God took her home.

Along with her parents, Lucy is preceded in death by two husbands, Bobby C. Courtney and Israel Ray Dodge, and a son-in-law, Hughen Watson.

She leaves behind her daughter, Blanche Watson of Crossett; one son, Mike Morgan (Linda) of West Monroe, LA; two sisters, Betty Ruth Smith (Kenneth) of Pine Bluff, AR, and Glenda Jackson of Tyler, TX; and two brothers, Milton White, and Barney White (Tina) both of Crossett; along with one granddaughter, Jessica Barnum (Mitchell) of Ada, OK; and two great-grandchildren, Morgan and Brock Barnum.

A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 8th, at the Hickory Grove Cemetery in Crossett with Bro. Keith Boseman, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Gideons International or Hope at Home organization in her memory.
