Martha Ellen Hensley

Martha Ellen Hensley, age 69, of Crossett, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Martha was born to the late Wilbur J. Smith and Bermell “Nell” Darnell Smith. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Nathan “Skip” Hensley; her sister, Sandra A. Smith Freeman and brother-in-law, Frank W. Freeman; and her brother, Thomas E. Smith.

Martha is survived by her son, Skip E. Hensley; grandson, Nathan L. Hensley; granddaughter, Elizabeth Hensley (Corey); and great-granddaughter, Winnie Ann Denise Potts. She is also survived by her brother, Jesse L. Smith (Sue); her sister, Mary H. Shaver (Tommy); and her aunt, Betty Maloney.

Martha married the love of her life, Nathan “Skip” Hensley, in 1972 in Eudora, Arkansas. She worked as a secretary for 18 years at Fire Sprinkler Maintenance, where she was known for her dedication, hard work, and warm personality.

She loved tending to her flower gardens and found joy in watching things grow. Whether traveling to new places, spending time with her animals—especially her cherished cat—or watching birds outside her window, Martha embraced each simple beauty life offered. She had a free spirit, a warm laugh, and a knack for finding fun in unexpected places. She especially enjoyed visiting the casino, where she delighted in the excitement and adventure of the moment.

Martha’s life was filled with love, adventure, and the beauty of small moments. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A funeral service to honor Martha’s life will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Medders Funeral Home in Crossett, Arkansas. Rev. Murlee Carter will officiate.
