Martha “Sue” Jordan, 94, a lifelong resident of Crossett, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2024, in Little Rock. She was born in Monticello, AR on August 13, 1930, to her parents, Birtus and Ollie Jeffers Barrett and was a charter member of the First Church of God.
Sue was deeply committed to her faith, serving as the church secretary for many years. Her love for her church family was profound, and she was a nurturing, kind presence to all who knew her.
Sue could often be found playing games on her computer or reading books about the Amish, immersing herself in their peaceful, faith-filled way of life.
Known for her abundance of joy, Sue was quick to laugh and bring a smile to those around her. She believed wholeheartedly that knowing and loving Jesus Christ and good clean living led to a happy life, which was evident in everything she did.
She had a heart so big that she could be described as the "universal mama." Whether with family, friends, or strangers, she was loving, nurturing, and caring, even taking it upon herself to regularly send thoughtful cards, ensuring that those around her always felt cared for and appreciated. Even in her final days, she wanted to be sure her nurses were cared for, a testament to her selflessness and warmth.
Sue's life was grounded in her deep faith in Christ and her unwavering devotion to loving and nurturing her family.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Royce Jordan; one granddaughter, Nemi Day; one daughter-in-law, Teri Lyn Jordan; and five siblings, James Barrett, Margaret Tippen, Birtus Barrett, Imogene Norrell, and Jean Jordan.
She leaves behind three children, Judy Sue Craven (Ken) and Wayne Jordan both of Crossett, and Ginger Aldridge (Calvin) of Heber Springs, AR; along with one sister, Wanda Glover of Crossett; five grandchildren, Mardi (Tony), Charlie (Katie), Amy (Neil), Andrew (Adrien), and Amanda (Ryan); fifteen great-grandchildren, Tolland, Jordan (Jonathan), Justine (Bodi), Emily, Jackson, Jase, Avery, Sophia, Samuel, Daniel, Silas, Chloe, Simeon, Cannon, and Seth; and six great-great-grandchildren, Jaycee, Aubree, Addison, Grant, Maddox, Kollyn.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 19th, at the Lone Sassafras Cemetery in Ladell, AR, with Pastor Mike Neal and Robert Ballard, officiating.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, October 18th, at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W, in Crossett.
