Martin Howard Anderson, 80, of Crossett, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, April 21, 2025. He was born on June 2, 1944, to his parents, Sam and Mervyn Stough Anderson.
Martin was a devoted member of South Main Baptist Church, where he worshipped faithfully and shared his love of music as a member of the church choir. His strong Christian faith guided every aspect of his life, and he was known by many as a kind and steady presence with a heart for others.
Martin worked as a welder at the Georgia-Pacific paper mill for over 35 years, a career marked by dedication and skill. He took pride in his work and the relationships he built with his coworkers over the decades.
An avid outdoorsman, Martin found great joy in fishing—especially for crappie—and could often be found casting a line on quiet Arkansas mornings. He was also a true Razorback fan, always ready to cheer on his beloved Hogs.
Martin had a deep appreciation for music, particularly the voice of Elvis Presley. He loved listening to Elvis and delighted family and friends with his uncanny impersonations, always delivered with a smile and a bit of flair. For many years, he was known for his healthy routine of walking a mile and a half daily, a habit he kept until his health began to decline.
He will be remembered as a good Christian man, a loving friend, and a faithful servant of God whose warmth, humor, and gentle spirit touched the lives of many.
Martin is predeceased by his parents and leaves behind his loving wife, Mary Janice Anderson of Crossett; daughter, Shelley Anderson Odom (Stacy) of Grayson, LA; three bonus daughters, Becca Gabriel (Luis) of Conway, Rachel Culpepper of Little Rock and Tina Morris of Pensacola, FL; one sister, Wendi Joiner of Houston, TX; special friend, Yketta Powell; ten grandchildren, Taylor Shoats, Hannah Lovelady, Holly Wise, Kayla Williams, Rhagan Gabriel, Luis Gabriel, Carter Culpepper, Chase Culpepper, Chris Brantley, and Chrystal Lochala and a host of great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 24th, at South Main Baptist Church with Bro. Brad Savage, officiating, followed by interment at Crossroads Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home. Pallbearers Stacy Odom, Paul Weems, Luis Gabriel, Carter Culpepper, Chase Culpepper and Jason Culpepper. Honorary pallbearers are Luis Gabriel, Colby Shoats, Tristen Lovelady, Doyle Coody, Royce Swaim, and Bobby Calvert.
