Marvin Louis Wallace

Marvin Louis Wallace, 87, of Crossett, passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at his home.  He was born in Wilmot, Arkansas, on July 5, 1934, to his parents, Louis Mark and Rosie Rachel Tubbs Wallace.  He grew up in Ashley County and was a member of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church of Hamburg and the Hamburg Masonic Lodge 576.

Marvin graduated from Hamburg High School in 1954, served honorably in the United States Army in Germany, and after discharge, attended an electrical school in Chicago, Illinois.

After working several years for the Chase Bag Company in Crossett, he eventually retired as an electrician at the Georgia Pacific Paper Mill, where he worked for over twenty years.

Marvin enjoyed fishing, hunting, and buying his friends and family gifts. 

Because of his intense love of gospel music, Marvin spent countless hours listening and studying music and attending live gospel singings every time he had the chance.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by two sons, Jason Duffie Wallace and Shawn Mark Wallace, and one step-grandchild, Cecil Jerrick Sellers.

He leaves behind his wife, Nancy Carol Wallace of Crossett; one son, Brian Mark Wallace (Tracie) of Lincoln, AR; one daughter, Lawana Wallace of Little Rock, AR; two step-daughters, Carolyn Woodward of Woodbury, TN, and Edith P. Johnson of Crossett; and one step-son, Randy Sellers of Johnsville, AR; along with one sister, Barbara Wilcoxon (James) of Hamburg; two brothers, Herbert Wallace (Charlie) also of Hamburg, and Andrew Wallace (Judy) of Crossett; two grandsons, Mark and Jake Wallace (Danyelle) of Crossett; eight grandchildren; and fifteen step-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 31, at Medders Funeral Home Chapel, 1564 Hwy 52 W, in Crossett with Bro.  Richard West and Bro.  Jerry Carter officiating, followed by interment at Promise Land Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home.  Pallbearers are Willard Erwin, Don Wallace, Keith Wallace, David Wallace, Ricky Hawkins, and Emmett Wallace.  Honorary pallbearers are Danny Carter, Jonathan Sivils, Lee Sellers, Randy Sellers, and James Fleming.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 30, at Medders Funeral Home.
