Mary Frances (Douglass) Savage

Mary Frances Douglass Savage, 86, of Crossett, passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2023.  She was born in Monticello, Arkansas on July 6, 1937, to her parents, Gus Osborn and Frances Robertson Douglass, was a 1955 graduate of Dermott High School and a member of the First Baptist Church of Fountain Hill.

Raised in a household shaped by the values of her Southern Baptist preacher father and schoolteacher mother, Mary's faith and compassion shone brightly throughout her life.  Her role as a mother and grandmother was truly her calling. She took great pride in being a stay-at-home mom, always making sure her family was well cared for.  She supported her children and grandchildren in all their pursuits, from academics to athletics.  From being the dedicated overseer of concession stands during various school games, to being a chaperone on numerous school sponsored trips, Mary was not only their cheerleader but also an embodiment of unwavering support and encouragement.  Her involvement in her family’s lives was a testament to her boundless love. She was their biggest fan, attending and cheering at countless sporting events, including track meets, baseball and softball games, swimming competitions, and various scouting events. To her grandchildren, she was more than a grandmother—she was "Nana," a beacon of love, positivity, and guidance.

She leaves behind two daughters; Janla Gardner (Keith) and Kelly Savage both of Crossett; two grandchildren; Loni Carter (Justin) of Cabot, Arkansas and Douglas Joseph Gardner of Benton, Arkansas; along with one great-grandchild, Ariana Nikkole Carter.

No services will be held at this time.  Her family will fulfill her wishes to be cremated and will bury her cremains at a later date at the Oakland Cemetery in Monticello, Arkansas.
