Mary Elizabeth Sharp, 76, a lifelong resident of Crossett, passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2025. She was born on September 8, 1948, to her parents, John “Red”, and Minnie Wolfe Sharp.
A devoted member of Cloverdale Assembly of God, Mary spent many years serving the church as a Sunday School teacher and Missionette leader, sharing her love of Christ with young hearts. She also assisted with the bus ministry, ensuring that every child had an opportunity to hear the Word of God.
Mary dedicated several years as a caregiver, naturally possessing the compassion and kindness needed for the task. She later worked at Crossett Elementary School as a cafeteria worker, where her generosity truly shone—often buying lunch for children who didn’t have the means, never wanting anyone to go without.
Her faith was her guiding light. Mary loved God deeply and read through the Bible multiple times, applying its teachings in every aspect of her life. Family was also very important. She loved her family immensely and treated her nieces and nephews as if they were her own children, nurturing them with unconditional love and support.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by one sister, Catherine Gail Gortney; one brother, Lonnie Sharp; and two brothers-in-law, Mac Jackson, and Ricky Jo Johnson.
She leaves behind four siblings, Betty Jackson, and Hank Sharp (Pam) both of Crossett, Alice Jo Ethridge (Jimmy) of Monticello, and Lillian Johnson of Hamburg; along with one sister-in-law, Robbin Sharp; three special friends, Rhonda Ferrell, Elsie White, and Wandza Black; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, February 17th, at Cloverdale Assembly of God Church, 132 Ashley Rd 15, in Crossett, with Bro. David Williams and Bro. D.J. Bussell, officiating, followed by interment at Crossroads Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Doug Jackson, James Harrington, Ricky W. Johnson, Jesse Harrington, Jacob Ferrell, and Bobby Travis.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday, February 16th at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W, in Crossett.
