Mary Sue “Susie” Ware, 51, of Hamburg, formerly of Lake Village, passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2025. She was born on August 27, 1974, in Lake Village, Arkansas, where she grew up surrounded by family and friends.
Susie worked many years at True Value Hardware Store in Lake Village before beginning a long career with Wal-Mart in Crossett, where she devoted over fifteen years. Known for her warm smile and easy conversation, she quickly became a familiar and trusted face to customers and coworkers alike. She had a gift for making people feel welcome, treating everyone like family, and her strong, loving, and selfless spirit touched countless lives.
A woman with a zest for life, Susie loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing at the Saline River camp and hunting. She delighted in yard sales and enjoyed collecting beanie babies, coins, and anything unique she could find. She was always up for a game of bingo or pokeno, and she had a knack for finding treasures while shopping—whether at a flea market, down the road, or with just a few clicks on TEMU, where she could spend hours filling her cart with “must-haves” that nobody knew they needed until Susie found them.
Susie also adored her fur babies, both dogs and cats, who brought her constant companionship and love.
Above all else, Susie will be remembered as a true “people person”—someone who never met a stranger, who gave freely of herself, and who carried a warmth and laughter that could brighten any room she entered. Her strong and loving spirit made others feel like family, no matter who they were. Yet, her greatest joy of all was being “Mamaw.” She cherished her grandchildren beyond measure and delighted in teaching them about Jesus, planting seeds of faith that will continue to grow for generations.
She is preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Beulah Emerson, and her maternal grandfather, Robert Lee Morgan.
She leaves behind her loving husband, Steve Ware, of Hamburg; two daughters, Samantha Warren (J.T.) of Crossett, and Jordan Smith (Daniel) of Hamburg; one son, Stephen Ware, of Hamburg; her mother, Margie Caudell also of Hamburg; and her father and step mother, Raymond and Bertha Emerson of Lake Village; along with one sister, Kaye Wallace (Sammy) of Hamburg; her twin brother, Raymond Emerson, Jr. (Leigh) of Cleveland, MS; her 2nd father, “Bubba”; two grandchildren, Elijah and Amelia Denise Smith; and her beloved fur babies, “Bruno”, “Charlie”, “Grasshopper”, “T-Bone”, and 3 cats.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 26th, at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W, in Crossett, with Bro. Kevin McDaniel, and Bro. J.T. Warren, officiating followed by interment at Carter Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Corey Purvis, Parker Wallace, Conner Emerson, Zach Howle, Josh Graves, and Richard Frisby. Honorary pallbearers are Aloe Hayes, Donald Bozeman, David White, Chance Wallace, and Chuck Farmer.
