(The following obituary was written and submitted by Melissa's sister, Ashley)
If you're about to throw away an old pair of pantyhose, stop. Consider: Melissa Dawn Watt who entered eternal life on Two's Day, February 22, 2022. Her spirit is carried on by her son, her parents, her grandmother, her sisters, a significant other, and an extended family of relations and friends from every walk-in life.
We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Melissa during her 36 years among them. Never throw away old pantyhose. Use the old ones to tie gutters, child-proof cabinets, tie toilet flappers, or hang Christmas ornaments.
Invite new friends to Thanksgiving dinner. If they are from another country and you have trouble understanding them, learn to "Listen with an accent". Never say mean things about anybody: they are "poor souls to pray for". Have lunch with the cognitively challenged. Keep the car keys under the front seat so they don't get lost. Make the car dance by lightly tapping the brakes to the beat of songs on the radio. Those who've taken her lessons to heart will continue to ensure every baby will be kissed, the hungry will have a home cooked meal, the guests will have a warm bed and a soft nightlight. You may read this and recall a memory that touched your heart, tickled your funny bone, or maybe made you say "huh?"
Melissa attended college at UAM where she made Dean's list. After becoming a mother, she decided to put her many creative talents to use while being a stay-at-home mother. Melissa's pride was being a mom and caring for others. She loved spending time in the kitchen creating delicious meals and extravagant cakes for her loved ones.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Melissa. She loved a quiet evening crocheting as much as fishing and hunting with her dad. She had an uncanny ability to find happiness in life's daily activities. Her hilarious yet pleasant personality was contagious to everyone she met.
Melissa is survived by her son, Dylan Ray Gaught; her grandmother, Margie O'Neal; her parents, Eddie Mack Watt, and Susan Diane Gill; her sister, Nora Christine "Chrissy" Watt (Serenity, Stacy, Damon, Remington); Ashley Watt-Bradbury (Gavien, Paisleigh, Parker, Noah, Teegan); her significant other, Brett Justin Gaught.
Melissa is reunited with her grandfather, John E. "Snort" Watt; her grandmother, Nora Pauline Watt; her brother, Stacy Mack Watt.
