Obituary

Mildred Levon White, beloved mother, grandmother, and devoted member of Tillou Baptist Church, passed away on July 6, 2023, at the age of 81 in Crossett. She was born on July 20, 1941, in Bastrop, Louisiana, to Edward and Celestine Tharpe Middlebrooks.

Mildred lived a life of service and compassion as a certified nursing assistant, dedicating over twenty years of her career to caring for others. Dr. and Mrs. Salb were fortunate to have her as part of their team during her employment, and she touched the lives of many patients with her kindness and expertise.

Beyond her professional life, Mildred will be remembered for her incredible culinary talents. She was an amazing cook, and her banana pudding, chicken and dumplings, cakes, and other delicacies easily made her kitchen the family gathering place for laughter and shared meals with recipes that will be cherished for generations to come.

Mildred loved chatting on the phone, singing, quilting, traveling, camping, and savoring the occasional oatmeal cream pie or bowl of her favorite Butterfinger ice cream.  She found joy in the simplest of things and embraced life’s pleasures with enthusiasm.  She had a zest for life and used her charming sass to entertain and uplift those around her including her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she adored.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by two husbands, Jimmy Pink Kinney, and David Edward Fox; two sisters, Carol Ann Harris, and Jean Griffin; three grandchildren, Brooke and Corey Kinney, and Dustin Reed; in-laws, Robert and Christine Fox; and sister-in-law, Peggy Fox Haynie.

She leaves behind her husband of twenty-three years, Larry White; and five children, Jimmy Kinney (Martha) of Crossett, Mickey Fox (Suzy) of Lowell, AR, Judy Mason (Lenny), Keith Fox (Charlotte), and Scottie Fox (Tiffany) all of Crossett; and two step-sons, Barry White (Laura) of Farmerville, LA, and Robert White (Vickie) of Oak Grove, LA; along with three siblings, Ethyl Mae Johnson, Clara Belle Wallace, and John Middlebrooks all of Bastrop, LA; thirteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 10th at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W, in Crossett, with Pastor Taylor Freeland, officiating, followed by interment at Pinewood Memorial Park under the direction of Medders Funeral Home.  Pallbearers are Justin Kinney, Brandon Carter, Lenny Don Mason, Keith Fox, Jr., Cody Kelly, Brady Carter, Charlie Harris, and Curt Harris.  Honorary pallbearers are Mildred’s grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, at Medders Funeral Home.
