Nancy Thompson Obituary

Nancy Ann Pendergrass Thompson passed away peacefully and surrounded by love in her home on December 24, 2024.  Mrs. Thompson was born on October 16, 1948 in Crossett, Arkansas to her parents Edward and Louise Pendergrass. Mrs. Thompson grew up in Crossett and graduated from Crossett High School in 1966.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Paul Pendergrass of Houston, Texas; and her sister, Mary Hoff of West Monroe, Louisiana. 

Mrs. Thompson was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and she served as a minister at the Community of Christ Church in Crossett.  She was instrumental in the Women’s World Day of Prayer in Crossett joining together with women of all faiths to celebrate the power of prayer.   Prior to her retirement in 2008 from Ideal, Mrs. Thompson worked at Alltel Telephone.  Mrs. Thompson was a treasure to her friends and family finding and sharing joy with everyone she met.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 54 years, Ernest Ray Thompson; her sister Maxine Hendrix; her two daughters, Renea McClendon and her husband John McClendon of Monticello and April Thompson of Homer, NY;  her treasured grandsons, Dylan Holland and Zach John “Johnny” McClendon; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to the family, friends and wonderful Hospice teams who loved and supported them over the past year.

There will be a visitation scheduled for Sunday, December 29, 2024 from 5-7PM at Medders Funeral Home of Crossett followed by a graveside service at 11AM on Monday December 30, 2024 at Pinewood Memorial Park in North Crossett, with Rev. Bruce Arrant and Rev. Greg McManus officiating. Pallbearers include Lee Carpenter, Kelly Hale, Josh Hoff,  Ed Hoff, Dylan Holland, Johnny McClendon, and Eric Pendergrass.  Honorary Pallbearers include Tommy Pendergrass and Jim Hendrix. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in honor of Mrs. Thompson to the American Legion Auxiliary at PO Box 2167, 807 Main Street, Crossett,  AR 71635.
