Nancy Willis, 78, of Crossett, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, December 31, 2022, in Little Rock. She was born on September 25, 1944, to her parents, Oliver and Hazel Murphy Barnett. Nancy was a lifelong resident of Crossett, a 1962 graduate of Crossett High School, and a member of First Baptist Church.
After thirty years, Nancy retired from Georgia Pacific, where she worked as a cost accountant and developed many special long-lasting friendships.
Her hobbies included playing Liverpool rummy, mexican train dominos, and bridge, along with tending to her flower gardens, but she especially enjoyed a good game of golf. She also could make incredible cornbread dressing, and nothing compared to her fried chicken which was her favorite.
With her wickedly witty sense of humor and creative mind, Christmas always brought her much amusement. She decorated beautifully and prepared scavenger hunts for her family every year. Watching the intensity as they searched for clues always filled her with laughter.
Nancy loved to laugh and through laughter she connected with people. She and her friends took numerous giggle-filled road trips over the years to the beach along with other places. However, she was just as content, sitting on her back porch watching the deer and birds with her first-rate best friend, Penny Carter, visiting with her back door neighbor, Mae McDonald, or her sweet nephew, Kelley McArthur.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her three siblings, Edith Hunicut, Richard Barnett, and Bennie McArthur.
She leaves behind one daughter, Robyn Willis of Folsom, CA; and one son, Jeff Willis (Tonya) of Crossett; along with one special grandson, Dustyn Willis of Alexander, AR; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
No services will be held for Ms. Nancy at this time.
