Nelda Boseman Obituary

Nelda Faye Boseman, 76, of Crossett, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at the Somerset Senior Living Facility.  She was born in Ripley, Mississippi, on March 6, 1946, and was a faithful member of the First Pentecostal Church of Crossett.

Nelda spent most of her childhood in Bastrop, Louisiana and moved to Crossett in 1972.  She worked several years as a Certified Nursing Aide and eventually graduated from the South Arkansas Community College in El Dorado in 1997, as a Licensed Practical Nurse.  Over the span of her career Nelda worked for various nursing homes, including the Cherry Ridge Skilled Nursing Facility, the Hamburg Nursing Home, and the Somerset Facility, formerly called Pinewood Nursing Home.

Nursing may have been Nelda’s chosen profession; but God and faith always came first.  She had a natural hunger to introduce others to Christ, and nothing pleased her more.  “It’s a good life living for the Lord.”, as she often said, and she enjoyed it to its fullest. God, family, others, then self, was how she lived, and this kept her smiling.  To her family she was their matriarch, their best friend, and especially their inspiration.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd Jones, and Retha Baham Mills; her husband, Travis Rae Boseman; one daughter Melissa Marie Fontenot; two sisters, Mary Jane Smith, and Connie Renee McGhee; her stepfather, Alfred Mills, and one son-in-law, Dennis Platt.

She leaves behind two daughters; Tuwana Sue Platt of Bastrop, Louisiana, and Shelia Fuller (Sam) of Crossett; one son, Chad Shannon Boseman, also of Crossett; two brothers, Ronald Jones (Connie) of Rolla, Missouri, and Billy Wayne Hickman of Bastrop, Louisiana; and one sister, Peggy Hall also of Bastrop; along with eight grandchildren, Ambi Bundy (Seth Bundy), Tiffaney Smith, Ashlynn Heintze, Harley Bolin, James Carter, Jessie Fuller, Viola Crabtree, and Brianna Boseman, ten great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 22nd at the First Pentecostal Church of Crossett, 102 Ethridge Drive, in North Crossett, with Bro. Keith Smith, Bro. Kevin Sanders, and Bro. Larry Hickman, officiating, followed by a private interment at Old Bonita Church Cemetery in Bastrop, LA under the direction of Medders Funeral Home.  Pallbearers are Brandon Fitch, Seth Johnson, Eddie Jones, Derk Roberts, Trent Scarborough, and Dewayne Hawkins.  Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Daugherty, Matthew Stoddard, Dino Heintze, Jacob Johnson, Gabriel Johnson, Kevin Rial, Ronald Jones, and Trace Castleberry.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 21st at the church.
