Nina Lanell (Higgins) Hodges

Nina L. Hodges, 85, of Crossett, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2024. She was born in Monticello, AR, on February 09, 1939, to her parents William Lionel and Ada Frances Higgins.

Nina was a dedicated retired employee of the Crossett Police Department, where she served in various roles, including dispatcher. In her younger years, she found joy in volunteering for Nailbenders for JESUS, camping, fishing with her husband, and sewing for her family. She eagerly anticipated annual trips to the Watermelon Festival in Warren and cherished time spent with her grandchildren and beloved Yorkies. Nina was a faithful member of South Main Baptist Church, a 1956 graduate of Drew Central High School, and a longtime resident of Crossett.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of nearly 40 years, Lois Hodges; her parents; and one brother, Charles Anthony “Butch” Higgins.

Nina leaves behind her four daughters: Sherry Walker and husband David, Rhonda Parker and husband John, all of Crossett; Stephanie Mahan of Damascus, AR; and Dawn Hunter and husband Randy of Star City. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren, a host of great and great-great-grandchildren, and her grand fur baby "Jordi".

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W, Crossett, with Chaplain Steven Kelley officiating. Due to excessive heat, a private interment will follow under the direction of Medders Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. Pallbearers will include her sons-in-law, grandsons, and Tommy Sturgeon.
