Owen Taylor Obituary

Owen Gene Taylor, 87, of Crossett, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2026.

Owen was a hardworking man who spent many years as a millwright at the Georgia-Pacific Plywood Mill before retiring. He took pride in his work and believed in showing up, doing the job right, and providing for his family.

Alongside his beloved wife, Gloria, Owen owned and operated The Kountry Kettle Restaurant for seventeen years. Together, they built a place that was more than just a restaurant—it was a gathering spot where Owen’s hospitality and pride in honest work were always evident.

When he wasn’t working, Owen loved being outdoors. He especially enjoyed catfishing—jug fishing was his favorite—and he was known far and wide for frying fish better than just about anyone around. He also had a true green thumb, raising impressive vegetable gardens that he cared for with pride and happily shared with others. Always thinking of those around him, Owen enjoyed doing kind and thoughtful things for his friends, especially when it came to their vehicles. He would pick them up, detail them from top to bottom, and return them looking better than new. Meticulous in his work, Owen paid close attention to every detail, and over the years he detailed many vehicles for his fellow Georgia-Pacific employees, simply because he liked helping and making someone’s day a little better.

Most of all, Owen loved his family. He worked hard his entire life to take care of them, and they were the center of everything he did. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, a steady provider, and a man who loved simple pleasures and the people closest to him.

Along with his wife of forty-two years, Gloria Bolin Taylor, he is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Bessie May Thomason Taylor; three brothers, Raymond, Doyle, and Tom Taylor; and one sister, Maurice Anders.

He leaves behind three daughters, Karen Ederington (Todd) of Bryant, AR, Liz Nelson (Mike) of Bastrop, LA, and Diane Hamilton of Crossett; along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great- grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 11th, at Eden Cemetery with Bro. Scott Sasser, officiating.
