Phillip Don Swan Obituary

Phillip Don Swan, 74, of Fountain Hill, passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2020, in Little Rock.  He was born on January 5, 1946, to his parents, Scott Alvin, and Madgie Faye Eubanks Swan.  He was a lifelong resident of Crossett and a 1964 graduate of Crossett High School.  For 42 years he worked for Georgia Pacific and in 2006 retired as a Training Coordinator in the Tissue Mill.

He enjoyed reading western and suspense novels, deer hunting and taking trips to Branson, MO, along with spending time with his granddaughter, Hayley, who he adored.

Phillip was an active member of the Hamburg First United Pentecostal Church where he occasionally filled in for his pastor during worship and played bass guitar.  For nearly forty years, he was an instrumental part of the prison ministry, which he held near and dear to his heart.

Phillip was loved by all who met him for his fun-loving generous personality.  He was a man who loved the Lord, his church, and his family and will be missed by all.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Ilene Johnson Swan, his wife of 4 years, Charlene Pruitt Swan, one stepson, Travis Sowyers, and one uncle, Harold Swan.

He is survived by one daughter, Karen White (Dale); and one granddaughter, Hayley White, all of Crystal Springs, MS; two step daughters, Pam Keely (Stan) of Fountain Hill, and Penny Whitaker (Lee) of Greenville, MS; one brother, Bennie Swan (Alice) of Crossett; and a host of step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, step great-great grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 2, at Crossroads Cemetery with Pastors Larry Hickman, Wilbur Cupstid, and Randy Russell, officiating.  Pallbearers are Chance Ray, Justin Leslie, William Sowyers, Joey Sowyers, Mark Hickman, Tino Garcia, Jerek Garcia, Nathaniel Sowyers, Cecelia Chambless, and Tasha Garcia.  Honorary pallbearers are Stan Keely, Wayne Keely, and James Rodney Sowyers.
