Rev. Charles Perdue Obituary

Rev. Charles L. Perdue, 74, of Strong, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2020, at the Medical Center of South Arkansas. He was born on April 17, 1945, in Winnfield, Louisiana, and was one of seven children in his family.

For many years he worked for the Arkansas Highway Department and owned and operated the Strong Auto Parts Store.

He was a man of God and accepted the call to preach in 1984 and became a Presbyter in the Arkansas District Pentecostal Church of God.  He served as pastor of several churches over the years, most recently the Friendship Worship Center of Crossett from 2007 until his retirement in 2019.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf, and raising chickens and goats.

Charles was a kind-hearted, honest man who loved helping people and wasn’t afraid to spread the love of Jesus Christ to others. He was a God-fearing Christian man who led by example and loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren and great-grands.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Pete Barbee and Geneva Iris Thornton Perdue; two brothers, Eugene and John Wayne Perdue; one sister, Margaret Ann Pardue; and one great-grandson, Nicholas Vincent, and his faithful canine companions, Napoleon and Little Man.

He is survived by his wife of thirty-seven years, Lynda Cope Perdue of Strong, AR; three sons, David Kemp (Sara) also of Strong, Russell Kemp (Nani) of Maynard, AR, and Harold Gray of Fayetteville, NC; one brother, Jack H. Perdue (Juanita) of Kilgore, TX; two sisters, Glenda G.
